Engineering the Talent of the Future...

08th September 2009

CDE will be attending the upcoming Engineering Graduate & Placement Fairs at University of Ulster, Jordanstown and Queen’s University Belfast to discuss the various positions available to the new batch of engineering graduates in Northern Ireland.

The company has recently been accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers as offering employees a route to achieving prestigious Chartered Engineer status and will be discussing the advantages that this brings for new recruits at the two fairs.

“We are very excited about having our training and development programs recognised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and we are looking forward to talking to the new engineering talent in Northern Ireland about the opportunities that this creates for them” said CDE’s Design Manager, Brian McCullough. “We know from our experience in the recruitment of new engineering talent that the ability to offer new recruits a route to becoming a Chartered Engineer will help us to attract the highest quality graduates to help us further develop the range of products and systems that we offer to the global quarrying, mining and waste management industries.”

By being able to offer new graduates a route to Chartered Engineer status, a position with CDE means that individuals can continue to develop the base of skills that they learn through their degree study. Being able to use the CEng mark is seen as reaching the top of the profession and this is something that more and more graduates seem to be placing a lot of emphasis on once they finish their initial degrees according to CDE.

“We are very aware of the growing trend for new engineering graduates to want to continue their personal development through working towards IMechE accreditation and we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity” explains Tony Convery, Chairman and founder of CDE and himself a Chartered Engineer.

CDE have a variety of graduate and placement positions available as part of their annual graduate recruitment program and representatives from their design and projects departments will be available at the upcoming fairs to discuss these in further detail. CDE will also have some recent graduate employees on their stand at the fairs to allow potential new recruits to discuss the type of work involved in more detail.

The University of Ulster Engineering Fair takes place on Monday 12th October from 11am to 3pm at the Jordanstown campus outside Belfast. The Queen’s University Fair takes place on Wednesday 21st October in the Whitla Hall, Belfast, again running from 11am to 3pm.
