National Honours for CDE Sponsored Jungle Crows...

Two players; Tudu and Zaffar, from CDE sponsored (Kolkata) Jungle Crows have been selected for the Indian National Rugby team.

Their first match is today when they meet Malaysia in Kuala Lumpar as part of the Asian 5 Nations Tournament being held there.  They will then play either China or Pakistan on Saturday 6th June.

This is more fantastic news for the Crows who continue to go from strength to strength...

• Last month a Crows team placed 2nd in the first All India Womens' Tournament in Mumbai
  
• Sanjay Patra, Jungle Crows coach and one of India's best scrum halves, has been appointed Assistant Coach to the Indian National Team
• Jungle Crows lifted both senior cups in Kolkata in 2008; the Calcutta Cup and the Centanary Cup
• In February this year Jungle Crows players were amongst the Bengal Team that won their Region's National Qualifier 7s tournament
• Tudu is in India's Rugby development squad for the 2010 Commonwealth Games (being held in Delhi) - currently the only player from East India to have this honour
• Tudu continues to do well in his course at Hartbury College in England under full sponsorship through friends of the Jungle Crows
• Zaffar runs a new Jungle Crows youth development programme 'Kolkata 23' covering 8 schools in the underprivileged district of Kidderpore in Kolkata
• Each year Jungle Crows hold a free winter camp for kids from all backgrounds in Kolkata ... This year more than 100 kids received training with an average daily attendance of 70 across the 13 days. All received a certificate of achievement, a t-shirt, and lunch (which included more than 3,000 bananas!). For many of these kids this annual event is their only access to organised sport.
