Specially-invited guests from the world’s leading waste management companies, experts in the waste industry, as well as governing bodies and associations came together at a symposium organised by waste management specialists CDEnviro on Wednesday 17 May at CDEnviro’s Headquarters, in Cookstown, Northern Ireland.

The attendees called for XYZ to happen – was there any concluding agreement or call to action we could include?

Representatives from the companies managing around 80% of the UK's waste, were joined by leading waste management companies from Australia and two of the most innovative Road Sweeping companies in Switzerland to discuss ‘Working Together to Transform the Road Sweepings Industry for the Future’.

Along with presentations from CDEnviro, the assembled guests heard from speakers from Queen’s University (Belfast) and the Environment Agency. There were also group discussions about future waste streams.

Marc Jennings, CDEnviro’s General Manager, said, “This is not only the first time CDEnviro has ever hosted an event like this, but to our knowledge it's the first ever symposium on the subject hosted by a solutions provider in our industry.

“Innovation plays a crucial part in our drive to achieve of zero waste. We believe this will be achieved by asking the difficult questions, taking on the tough challenges and coming up with new ways to turn today’s waste products into tomorrow’s assets – this symposium plays an important part on that journey by bringing together the people with the knowledge and ability to make a difference. We have already received lots of positive feedback from our guests.
