CDEnviro has announced the securing of the company’s first major contract in Brazil after participating on a Trade Mission organised by Invest Northern Ireland.
The project will see CDEnviro supply equipment to be applied in the removal of soils used in tomato processing from the water stream. The removal of these soils, which will subsequently allow washing water to be efficiently reused, will introduce significant efficiencies to the production process, in particular by considerably reducing process downtime.
The new contract was announced by CDEnviro during a visit to their Brazil office by Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster. Ms Foster was briefed during the visit by CDEnviro General Manager, Mr Matt Bunting.
Commenting on the new contract Mr Bunting said “The contract is the outcome of our decision to appoint a Business Development Manager in Brazil to help us in identifying opportunities as they become available and then to bid for the business as quickly and effectively as possible.
“Having a presence in a market, particularly one that we have identified as offering significant growth potential, such as Brazil, is essential. It helps us keep abreast of trends and opportunities and also show potential clients that we are serious about doing business there.”
CDEnviro was established as a division of CDE Global Ltd in 2008 before being set up as CDEnviro Ltd in April 2011 and offers a range of waste reduction and recycling equipment with application in the processing of a variety of waste materials such as screening of waste sludges in municipal and industrial applications, gully waste & road sweepings recycling and the recycling of trommel fines. This new contract represents the first move into the agri/food sector and presents the company with significant opportunities for further export growth in the years ahead.
“Further development of our business in the agri/food sector over the coming years is high on our priority list” explains Matt Bunting. “The contract in Brazil is with one of the largest food producers in the world and this demonstrates the potential for us to further develop our business in this area and secure further export orders.”
Construction of a new manufacturing facility in Cookstown, Northern Ireland for CDEnviro is currently underway and is due for completion in August 2013. This project, supported by Invest Northern Ireland will create an additional 30 high value jobs at CDEnviro across a range of departments including Engineering, Production, Business Development and Project Management.
“The new production capacity will allow us to continue to expand our business outside Ireland and the UK and also into new sectors as we seek to build on the success we have enjoyed to date” explains Matt Bunting.
“Throughout the process of exploring new export markets we have found that Invest NI trade missions are a very cost-effective tool. In the build up to our involvement on the Brazil Trade Mission Invest NI’s marketing consultant in Brazil provided invaluable advice and guidance about doing business and help in identifying potential customers in what is a huge and sophisticated marketplace.”
Speaking during his visit to CDEnviro headquarters Mr Hamilton said: “This is an immensely important contract for CDEnviro and for Northern Ireland in one of the world’s most dynamic economies. I know from the meetings I had in Brazil with business leaders during the mission that there are substantial opportunities there for Northern Ireland companies. CDEnviro’s success demonstrates that Brazil can be a rewarding market for companies which invest in developing a presence on-the-ground there.
“We recognised the potential of Brazil several years ago and decided to develop a programme of activities there within our annual Trade Calendar. In addition, we appointed an experienced marketing professional to provide advice and practical support including introductions and lead generation for our companies.
“This strategic focus on Brazil is encouraging and assisting companies, both large and small and across most sectors, to explore this market and others in South America such as Chile, Peru and Columbia,” he added.
