Representatives from Costain Natural Resources Division recently visited CDEnviro to carry out an acceptance test of the S:MAX sludge screens procured as part of the E5 alliance.

The E5 alliance awarded CDEnviro the contract to design, supply and commission eight S:MAX sludge screens across three Severn Trent Water sites; Wanlip, Rushmoor and Worksop. The S:MAX was chosen after a rigorous selection process.

Commenting on the selection of the two S:MAX SRU:15’s and two S:MAX SRU:10’s for the Wanlip Sewage Treatment site, Derek Spillane, MEICA Manager, Costain Natural Resources Division, said “After an extensive procurement process to select the optimum screen for both indigenous & imported sludge, the selected supplier was clearly identified as CDEnviro for their SRU:10 and SRU:15 screens”

CDEnviro specifically developed the S:MAX SRU:15 sludge screen for this E5 alliance. Equipped with the same design features as the larger S:MAX SRU:25, the SRU:15 allows reduced capacities to be efficiently processed. The S:MAX SRU:15 can accept sludge from two streams; imported sludge collected from surrounding areas and tankered to site and indigenous sludges.

Prior to the E5 alliance project the S:MAX had been installed at a number of other Severn Trent Water and UK water utility sites where it has proven its ability as a robust, reliable screening operation which eliminates blockages. The S:MAX effectively removes screenings and rag from a variety of wastewater sludges, can accept discharge directly from tankers and offers a unique back wash system designed to ensure screens do not block with material.
