Nicola Hughes talks about her role as Marketing Executive at CDEnviro, detailing what she enjoys most about her job and what she's looking forward to in the future.

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background

I am 28 years old and I’m Marketing Executive here at CDEnviro.  I graduated from the University of Ulster in 2011, with a degree in Sociology with Criminology. I worked in Customer Service and Customer Accounts before moving to a Marketing role in another Engineering company.  I’ve been with CDEnviro for just over a year now and I’m really enjoying it.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love the variety that every day brings – from organising events and managing our advertising to getting out on site and meeting our customers.  I also love how each one of us in the marketing department brings something different to the team and how much we learn from our manager on a regular basis.

Describe your typical day as ‘Marketing Executive’ at CDEnviro.

My main role is event planning so a typical day would involve organising our attendance at upcoming events and conferences around the world – one day in Switzerland, the next in Australia.  This involves covering all aspects of a show to make sure it comes together, whether that is shipping our brochures to Sydney or designing stand graphics in French and German for a show in Bern.  The most rewarding aspect of event planning is seeing it all come together!

What are you most looking forward to as part of your role in the future?

What I’m most looking forward to is watching CDE grow and as it grows, so will I.  As we develop our sectors and regions even further, I’ll have even more opportunities in terms of shows, training and my responsibilities.  We’re growing rapidly and it’s very exciting to be a part of the CDE journey.

What advice would you give to someone who wanted to join our team?

I would say go for it! Persistence is key and hard work pays off.  We’re always looking for positive and driven people to join the team so keep an eye out for opportunities.
