Much of the material collected from dredging is pumped directly onto a land source or back into the water, which only defers the problem rather than solving it. This material, if even accepted at landfill, would be very expensive to dispose of, due to its composition and weight.
The biggest advantage of processing dredge spoils through CDEnviro solutions is that the output products generated can be reused or sold for revenue gain.
The first important step in the process is to dewater the dredge spoils. Without dewatering, it is highly unlikely that this material would be accepted at any landfill site. At the same time, our solutions reduce the need to solidify the wet material so that disposal costs are kept to a minimum.
Our system can be combined with tertiary water treatment to allow customers to discharge treated water back into the bay. The salinity of the discharged water is in balance with water in the harbor, except it's much cleaner.
Further processing can remove heavy metal and hydrocarbon constituents from the waste water stream. This enables a wider range of more difficult, more lucrative waste streams to be processed.
The final incentive is that the need for jetties is reduced and so too are the cost associated with them.
Whatever the business case for processing dredge spoils, we have a solution for you.
